This recording is inspired by Margaret Tung’s decade-long project of commissioning horn solos by Jeff Scott, John Cheetham and James Wilding in an effort to bring new and diverse music to the horn repertoire. Margaret commissioned four pieces on this album. Additionally she also recorded two existing solo pieces by Alice Gomez and Frank Gulino that have become staples in her own solo repertoire. The music on this album is full of character and is fun to play on the horn. This album embodies Margaret’s excitement for playing the horn and exploring new pieces that provide an energetic and hopeful spirit that inspires creativity and artistry on the horn.
